Historic Norcross - Atlanta Culinary Tours - 3/10/2012
Event on 2012-03-10 14:00:00
Join us for our Culinary Tour of Historic Norcross!
Norcross is a hidden gem. The second oldest town in Gwinnett County, its compact downtown area is filled with interesting restaurants and shops. An added bonus is its proximity to Buford Highway, Atlanta's ethnic food Mecca.
Downtown Norcross has recently gone through a beautification project that added lights to the trees, a music system and new brick crosswalks. The merchants have also cleaned up and beautified Skin Alley, that runs along the back of the downtown buildings. As the city's web site says, Downtown Historic Norcross has kept its historic charm, with a trendy touch beautifully reflected in its friendly sidewalks and upscale businesses.
This tour centers on the downtown area of Historic Norcross and its dense concentration of restaurants. This is a walking tour lasting approximately 3 hours and will include about 1 miles of casual walking (mostly on sidewalks and paved surfaces). We'll visit (and sample) at the unique eateries of the area while learning about some of the history that makes Norcross unique.
We will take only 14 on each tour, so don't delay if you want to be part of this fun event. Eat your way through Norcross! Here are a few of the businesses featured on the tour, (note that the lineup may change from tour to tour…):
- Taste of Britain
- Mojitos
- 45 South
- Paizanos
- Iron Horse Tavern
- Bleu House Market
- Dominick's
How large are the tour groups?
The number of people will vary depending on the tour, but most groups will be limited to no more than 14. This makes the tour more manageable for both the guides and the restaurants. If you'd like to schedule a tour for a larger group, please contact us at info@atlantaculinarytours for more information. What should I wear?
Most of our tours are walking tours, so it's important to wear comfortable (but tasteful) clothing and walking shoes. It's not a good idea to wear high heels or dress shoes. It is a good idea to check the weather on the day of your tour and dress appropriately - we'll try to conduct our tours hot, cold, rain or shine. If weather conditions are dangerous (this is Atlanta and we occasionally get some scary weather), we may have to cancel or reschedule - we'll contact you directly if this occurs. Don't forget sunglasses, sunscreen, hats or umbrellas depending on the weather. Can I bring my camera?
Sure! There are lots of opportunities to take pictures during the tours. Can I bring my dog?
Sorry, no. We're going to be visiting restaurants and markets - pets aren't allowed. Can I bring my kids?
You'll have to make that call, based on your childs age/maturity/etc. Most of our tours are not set up for children. The samplings at some of the restaurants may feature alcohol or may not suit the palate of children that are "particular".How much food will we be eating?
There are enough tastings that most people will not need a meal afterwards. However, if you're still hungry once the tour is over, feel free to go back to your favorite stop for more!I have allergies!
We're not doctors, but if you have allergies or sensitivities to any foods or items used in food production, it's safe to assume that absolutely everything served on this tour is or contains an allergen of some sort. We can't be responsible for your allergies and encourage you to use the same discretion that has enabled you to live a full and healthy life to this point! Will I need to bring cash?
Our tours are all inclusive, but it's a good idea to have some extra cash on hand for souvenirs, gifts, an additiona beer or glass of wine, etc. When should I arrive for the tour?
It is very important that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. We leave on time - if you're running late, your confirmation will have a contact number that you can call.Should I tip my tour guide?
In the tourism industry, it is customary to tip your guide as you would a waitperson. For Private Tours, a gratuity will be added to your total cost.I need to cancel/reschedule. Is that a problem?
Not if you do it more than 24 hours in advance. We have to let all of the establishments we'll be visiting know how many people we're bringing so they can accommodate the tour. If you can't make it, you're welcome to give your reservation to someone else - just let us know at beth@atlanta-culinary-tours.com!
